We are looking for a Senior Developer to join us on a full-time basis. Reporting to a Solution Architect, you will influence the work within a multi-disciplinary squad supporting the development of our SaaS platform called Asanto. Asanto is a flexible, no-code platform empowering business users to configure products, pricing and distribution without the need for specialist developers. You will be a senior member in an agile development team championing development best practice and code quality, ensuring developed solutions meet the expectations of the Software Development Life Cycle, providing technical input to project prioritisation decisions or queries, and providing mentoring to your peers.

Principle accountabilities
  • Writing well designed, structured, testable code based upon industry and development best practices.
  • Maintaining, updating and continuously developing deployed solutions.
  • Integrating front-end, backend, API and databased systems and services.
  • Ensuring the quality of your developed solutions by writing comprehensive automated tests.
  • Interpreting software requirements and architecting these into best practice developed solutions.
  • Defining code development processes within the development team.
  • Creating and maintaining software documentation.
  • Being aware of emerging new technologies.
  • Driving the full adoption of Agile methodology.
  • Modelling and maintaining the standard of the code within the team (code review, audit, structure, linting, testing quality), and providing feedback to colleagues as required.
  • Mentoring Developer colleagues on coding and technical best practice.
  • Ensuring development stability and identifying weaknesses within production ready solutions.
  • Consider, relevant to your role, the needs and objectives of all our customers, including vulnerable customers, to ensure that they receive good outcomes.
Person specification

Knowledge, experience and qualifications

  • Significant proven experience working in web development, ideally in a commercial and/or SaaS environment.
  • Solid understanding and experience in multiple programming languages including Java Script.
  • Experience optimising databases at scale.
  • Experience ensuring technical directions to support solutions are communicated and understood by others.
  • An understanding of how solutions and approaches can impact a wider business.
  • An understanding of DevOps processes and infrastructure.
  • A solid understanding of secure coding and development best practices.
  • Experience working with relational database systems.
  • Experience working with code management solutions.
  • Experience driving Agile operational strategy forward.


  • Diagnosing and identifying problems, and creatively solving them.
  • Providing verbal and written communication that is clear and concise to colleagues, senior management as well as other stakeholders.
  • Flexible and adaptable – capable of changing direction where required, showing flexibility to meet new demands and quickly leaning and mastering new and existing technologies.
  • Self-managing own workload and continually meeting agreed deadlines and delivery targets.
  • Multi-tasking – managing several concurrent projects and prioritising demands.

This is a full-time Monday to Friday role working an average 37.5 hours per week.

Hybrid home/office working supported. There is a requirement to attend the office in Cumbria approximately twice a month or as frequently is required to meet the role requirements (expenses will be provided depending on your location).

Salary from £45,000 depending on experience, 25 days holiday plus public holidays, plus performance rated bonus, enhanced pension, and generous private medical, family, sickness and insurance benefits, and share schemes.
