Duties & responsibilities

As a software tester, you will work within a team of other talented people testing innovative and challenging solutions as part of an agile squad. Your day-to-day life as part of Team Idol will look a little like this…

Along with the rest of the team, you will be responsible for:

  • Attending daily Agile Scrum Ceremonies within a squad.
  • Maintain and develop existing automated and manual testing.
  • Identify, report and track the resolution of defects.
  • Produce, maintain and improve test plans and test cases.
  • Analysing test output and producing test reports.
  • Test solutions delivered by the development team for accessibility, usability and inclusion.
  • Communicating testing methodologies and strategy to other team members.
  • Collaborating with team members to deliver functional, iterative application development.
  • Innovating with new technologies, programming languages and infrastructure.
  • Working closely with all parties internally and externally.

Beneficial skills
  • ISTQB (or similar) certification or progress towards a recognised qualification in software testing would be beneficial..
  • Experience of working with test automation tools.
  • Experience of markup and programming languages such as JavaScript/Node.js, HTML & CSS.
  • Ability to work with medium to large volumes of data, performing calculations and formatting the data for various systems.
  • Experience with Agile project delivery methodologies.
  • An eagerness to learn and adapt to new practices and tools.
  • Documentation, analysis and reporting.
  • Ability to manage test scripts through tools such as Git or SVN.

To be successful in this role you’ll need to be highly motivated to work autonomously within a growing team. Commercial experience would be highly valued and passion and an ability to quickly adapt to new technologies is a must. Candidates must be prepared to be challenged and take the initiative. A degree of self-learning will be expected; however, support and training will be provided where needed.

  • Analytical skills – to collect information, categorise data, review results to identify patterns and trends.

This role is open to a range of people including those fresh from college/university with relevant academic qualifications but little or no experience. Evidence of self-learning or personal projects would be also be advantageous.
